Northern Wisconsin
Yellow Birch
A
North American "domestic exotic" seeing a recent
upswing in popularity, Yellow Birch has an amazing flare with
its straight, closed grain and color variance from creamy
yellow to very light reddish brown. Its beauty tends to intensify
with age as the wood mellows and ambers. Yellow Birch is particular
to the northern great lakes region. Do not be fooled by "Western
Birch" or "Birch," these are not the same species
and do not have important characteristics consistent with
Yellow Birch. Specifically, density and stability. Yellow
Birch has the same hardness as Red Oak.
